In order to preserve and further evolve the unique nature values in Kemeri National Park there is needed much effort and investments. In 2002 -2006 administration of KNP implemented an EU Life-Nature project "Conservation of wetlands in Kemeri National Park", LIFE2002NAT/LV/8496. Project per 75% was financed by the EU LIFE program. Total costs of the project - 1 925 468 EUR.
Main goal of the project was in start-up of management activities in diverse valuable wetlands - floodplain meadows, rised bogs and mires, seaside lagoon lakes. As a result of project activities, conditions for many rare bird species, including globally threatened Corncrake, Great Snipe and Lesser spotted Eagle, has improved.
