Ķemeri National Park is a specially protected nature territory of state importance. The national park was established in order to preserve values of this territory's nature, cultural history and spa, to protect formation processes of mineral water and medical mud as well as in order to promote sustainable management, nature tourism and ecological education. The territory of the national park is divided into functional zones depending on their protection and management goals.
Ķemeri National Park is managed by its administration which is a civil service institution under supervision of the Ministry of Environment.
The main goals of the park's administration are as follows:
To control and manage the territory of the national park in accordance with the law on Kemeri NP, the park's protection and management regulations, the nature protection plan and other relevant regulations;
To inform and educate the public about ecological issues and nature conservation, particularly local inhabitants and schoolchildren;
To ensure inventories necessary for planning nature conservation and to ensure elaboration of nature protection plans;
To safeguard rational management of Kemeri NP's state property in accordance with the law; to ensure profit generation by the administration;
To promote the development of sustainable management and nature-friendly tourism.
